Elaine Murphy-Ruck graduated with a BSc (hons) in Physiotherapy from the University of Ulster (Northern Ireland) in 1998. After qualifying, she moved to England and undertook her general rotations before specialising in paediatrics in 2000.
Elaine has been working as a paediatric physiotherapist for 25 years. Elaine has worked within the NHS since qualification and continues to work part time as a Highly Specialist Paediatric Physiotherapist across Barnet.
Elaine has a huge wealth of extensive experience of working with babies, children and young people, delivering and understanding how children’s physiotherapy is provided within the NHS. This has included working in the acute, community and clinic settings across three different geographical services.
Elaine has also worked for many years in different special schools and within mainstream schools and nurseries. Elaine has considerable experience with working with other professionals in health and education services. Elaine has knowledge and experience of all steps of the Education, Health and Care Needs Assessment, including assessing for, and writing reports for EHC Plans.
Elaine’s experience means she is extremely knowledgeable and experienced in treating children with Cerebral Palsy and a wide range of other neurological, developmental, neuro-muscular and congenital disorders, including children who have profound, multiple and complex needs.
Elaine has experience of using many adjuncts and treatments which compliment physiotherapy including orthotics, lycra, hydrotherapy and specialist seating, standing and walking equipment.
Elaine wants to work with parents and carers so they feel informed and confident to help and manage and their child's condition and individual development.
Elaine is a mother herself, and fully understands the importance and pressures of family life. This enables her to make sensible recommendations that prioritises your child’s health and development but within the context of your family life.
Elaine is HCPC registered; a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and Association of Paediatric Chartered Physiotherapists (APCP).
